This week’s writing prompt resulted in more of a fragment than a full story. Who knows? Maybe it’ll lead to something bigger.
The prompt is “That is disgusting,” Christina shook her head.
“That is disgusting,” Christina shook her head.
“How are you going to have a house of your own if you don’t get your hands dirty?” her father said.
Reluctantly, she reached into the pipe and gripped the lumpy mass within. Even with her gloves, she could feel the clammy ooze sloshing over her fingers.
“You know,” she said, “maybe this house is too big. It doesn’t seem right, does it? It could serve a family of six. With the housing shortage, I could sell it at a discount, as a public service.”
“Don’t you say that,” he glared.
She’d meant it as a joke. Of course, he would never let the house out of the family. But until that moment, she hadn’t known the intensity of his obsession.
